For many years, ITE trip generation data has been considered only suitable for performing trip generation analysis on general urban and suburban sites, where most ITE data has been gathered. As data collected focusses on vehicle trips, its applicability for multimodal-friendly sites has been highly debated due to the possibility of inappropriate estimation of vehicle trips.

In this webinar, the presenter will discuss a new analysis technique using the latest ITE Trip Generation Data and demonstrate an online tool, OTISS Pro, to generate appropriate trips for multimodal-friendly sites.

At the end of this webinar, the participants will understand:

  1. A new methodology from ITE to convert vehicle to person trips
  2. Basic principles used in estimating total baseline site person trips
  3. Use of ITE Trip Generation Data for any location setting and estimate appropriate trips

  • Mallikarjuna (Arjun) Kenchappagoudra

    Mallikarjuna (Arjun) Kenchappagoudra is a Transportation Designer at Transoft Solutions in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. He has over ten years of blended experience in transportation engineering, software development, business operations and academic research. Arjun works closely with ITE technical staff to create online software solutions for trip and parking generation data. A graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville, Arjun began his career as a Traffic Engineer focused on Traffic Impact Analysis, Evacuation Planning, and Traffic Simulation analysis. He worked in United States and in India for as a traffic consultant and as an employee. Arjun has contributed significantly to the field of atmospheric science, working with various scientists at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India and the National Space Science and Technology Centre (part of NASA Research) in Huntsville, Alabama. He has co-authored articles in many academic and conference publications.

  • Kevin Hooper, Principal, Kevin Hooper Associates, Falmouth, ME

    Kevin is a part-time contractor with ITE, directing with this update of Parking Generation Manual and development of the web-based app. He served a similar role for the Trip Generation Manual, 10th Edition released in 2017. He has participated in many trip and parking generation research projects across the U.S. - most recently for TTI and Caltrans, for District of Columbia Department of Transportation, and for TRB. He is based in Maine where he maintains the statewide and several regional travel demand models.
