MedComms Networking, which celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2017, is a global initiative that facilitates networking and dialogue amongst individuals working in and around the pharmaceutical industry and MedComms, focusing on specialist medical education, medical communications and medical publishing activities. Caroline Halford, Digital Publishing Manager for Springer Healthcare Caroline Halford has worked in medical publications for the past 16 years, and is currently the Digital Publishing Manager for Springer Healthcare (part of Springer Nature). In terms of medical publications, Caroline represents the Adis portfolio of journals, including Advances in Therapy, Diabetes Therapy, CNS Drugs and PharmacoEconomics. In recent times, Caroline has been involved in the launch and success of the Adis Rapid+ open access journals, which specialise in publishing digital features such as video abstracts, audioslides, and animations. Most recently, Caroline has expanded her role to represent the Springer Nature digital platforms Medicine Matters Oncology, Diabetes and Rheumatology. Caroline collaborates with industry to address their unmet educational needs through creating tailored educational Medicine Matters resources for the healthcare community. Cliff Wyatt, Managing Director of HC21 Group Cliff leads three companies delivering medical communications, education and training, where the focus is on developing great content and using digital technology to make the learning as engaging and rewarding as possible. Aimed at optimising the treatment and management of long-term conditions this includes novel approaches such as virtual preceptorships, web-workshops, interactive games and applications that are designed to provide real-world, patient centred insights and provide high practical value. Cliff has spent 30 years in the industry in a variety of international pharma and agency roles and has been Managing Director of HC21 Group since 2005. Debbie Wolinsky, Associate Director of Publications at Novartis Debbie Wolinsky has worked in medical communications for the past 20 years, and is currently an Associate Director of Publications at Novartis. Her responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing three publication plans along with supplemental digital products for the Novartis Immunology & Dermatology Division. Debbie enjoys the challenge of extending the life of a publication through digital innovations. Before joining Novartis, she worked at several agencies managing all aspects of publication plans across several therapeutic areas including oncology, hematology, rheumatology, and respiratory. She earned her CMPP in 2009 and is an active member of ISMPP. Daniel Portsmouth, Global Publication Strategy Manager, Boehringer Ingelheim Daniel Portsmouth began his career in scientific and medical communications after discovering a passion for writing and publishing during his PhD and Post-Doctoral studies. Currently Global Publication Strategy Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, Daniel is responsible for publications across a number of established, late-stage and pipeline assets in the BI Oncology portfolio. Exploration of digital innovations and utilization of digital channels to further the reach and impact of scientific and clinical data are key considerations for all of these publication activities.
