MES continues to be a priority investment for a variety of manufacturing industries. Despite their strategic importance, organizations struggle to define suitable business cases, and thus recognize the full value that the applications provide. As part of Gartner's research on MES, a comprehensive quantitative survey was conducted in 2013. It was a collaborative effort between Gartner and the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA), an industry association that is focused on the manufacturing operations software segment.
