IMH Statewide Committee Trainings

The IMH Statewide Committee plans annual professional development aimed at the IECMH community.  Currently, there are two trainings with Julie Ribaudo, LMSW, IMH-E® presenting, available with open registration. The details for both trainings are listed below. You can register for one training or both.

Without the very generous and ongoing support from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services these incredible training opportunities would not be possible.

1st Training - April 21, 2023   9am - 12pm (ET)

What’s Going on in There? The Social-Emotional Lives of Infants and Young Children with Julie Ribaudo, LMSW, IMH-E®
Description: Newborns enter the world equipped to absorb what experience offers them. They also come to us with unique patterns of temperament, sensory systems, and regulatory capacities. How those individual differences coalesce into emotional regulation and social skills is influenced by the family and societal context. This workshop explores the unfolding of the newborn, unpacks the “black box” of emotional development, and highlights how caregivers can support infant and young child emotional development. It will lend attention to the unique skills that IECMH specialists use to promote parent-infant relationships and support young children's optimal emotional and social development.

2nd Training - May 5, 2023 9am - 12pm (ET)
What About the Little Ones? The Social Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Infants and Young Children and their Families with Julie Ribaudo, LMSW, IMH-E®
Description: Much attention has been given, rightfully so, to the impact of the COVID pandemic on health & well-being, education, housing, the economy, and employment. Its long-term impact on families who were pregnant or parenting in the earliest phases of the upheaval will continue to emerge. This workshop explores the role of intergenerational trauma, social isolation, poverty, loss, and the threat of loss in the variations in infant and young children’s social development. It will offer suggestions for IECMH practitioners who are striving to help families with young children adjust to a post-pandemic world.
