Wittig is Chairman of the Department ofOrthopedics, Morristown Medical Center, and MedicalDirector, Orthopedic Oncology, Atlantic Health System.One of approximately 100 orthopedic oncologists inthe nation, Dr. Wittig’s work treating and researchingpatients with bone and soft tissue cancers and benigntumors and metastatic cancers is internationallyrecognized. He lectures and publishes frequently on hisclinical research and he wrote and co-edited the soletextbook detailing surgical procedures in orthopediconcology. Dr. Wittig frequently trains internationalresidents and fellows who come to the U.S. specificallyto learn his surgical techniques and approach fordiagnosing and treating patients with musculoskeletaltumors. He established the Sarcoma Service at NYU-TischHospital where he also served as director ofthe sarcoma division of NYU Cancer Institute. Afterreceiving his medical degree from New York UniversitySchool of Medicine, Dr. Wittig performed his residencyin orthopedic surgery at Columbia PresbyterianMedical Center where he served as chief resident, thencompleted a two-year fellowship at the WashingtonCancer Institute of the Washington Hospital Center andChildren’s National Medical Center, where he servedas sarcoma consultant to the Surgical and PediatricOncology Branches of the National Cancer Institute.
