The Clinical Supervision in Spanish Series is provided with support from the National Hispanic and Latino Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network and NAADAC.
La supervisión clínica es un dispositivo complejo que comprende dimensiones, actores, funciones y tareas a desarrollar. Los objetivos de la supervisión son tanto normativos (control de la calidad de la intervención), como restaurativos (apoyo emocional) y propiamente educativos (mantener y facilitar la competencia, capacidad y eficacia general). Este taller se enfoca en las ideas y herramientas que son necesarias para que los supervisores de habla hispana apoyen a otros consejeros de habla hispana para que puedan crecer en su capacidad de ayudar a otros. Se discutirá el equilibrio entre la supervisión, la administración y la evaluación del desempeño, enfatizando la importancia de la atención adecuada en el idioma del cliente. Los participantes también aprenderán las herramientas para explorar cuestiones complejas, como la ética, la cultura y el poder, tal como se aplica para servir a las personas con dominio limitado del inglés.
Clinical supervision is a complex device that includes dimensions, participants, functions and tasks to perform. The objectives of supervision are both regulatory (quality control of the intervention), and restorative (emotional support) and also instructional (maintaining and facilitating the general efficacy, ability and competence). This workshop focuses on the insights and tools that are necessary for Spanish speaking supervisors to support other Spanish speaking counselors to grow in their ability to help others. The balance between supervision, administration, and performance evaluation will be discussed emphasizing the importance of linguistically appropriate care. Participants will also learn the tools for exploring complex issues such as ethics, culture, and power as it applies to serving those with limited English proficiency.
