This webinar is provided as a collaborative effort between the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and NAADAC.
Description
Counselors are tasked with managing the clinical needs of patients during this crisis. Psychological First Aid (PFA) provides a set of clinical tools to lessen the intensity and duration of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This presentation will allow participants to explore options to apply PFA to patients receiving treatment during COVID-19. Participants will identify treatment options to meet the ongoing needs of patients after receiving PFA. Participants will also identify ways they can protect themselves from secondary trauma while providing PFA.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to identify evidence-based Psychological First Aid (PFA) responses for people enduring the COVID-19 crisis.
- Participants will identify how PFA connects to treatment options to during and following the COVID-19 crisis.
- Participants will create plans to care for themselves while responding to people in crisis.
Presenter
Fredrick Dombrowski, PhD, LMHC, MAC, CASAC
Fredrick Dombrowski, PhD, LMHC, MAC, CASAC, has worked with co-occurring populations since 1999 and has worked in higher education since 2010. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University in 2016. He has provided PFA to first responders and those who have endured trauma. Dombrowski has clinical and administrative experience implementing PFA for agencies with workers in high-risk situations. Dombrowski infuses self-care into higher education, making it a priority for students and future counselors.

- Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $20 processing fee to access the quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
