Description
This webinar is an abbreviated course in “Buprenorphine 101.” It is well known that the role of healthcare and counseling professionals in the treatment of patients is profound. The goal of this interactive session is to enhance your professional knowledge surrounding outpatient based opioid treatment with Buprenorphine. Some of the topics covered include preparing patients for MAT with Buprenorphine, engaging patients in treatment, and connecting patients to resources. As a result of this session, attendees will increase their understanding of patient treatment challenges, understand their role in evolving the patient experience using strength-based approaches, and identify the benefits of combining counseling and Buprenorphine for long-term treatment success.

Presenters
Jamelia Hand, MHS, CADC, CODP

Jamelia Hand, MHS, CADC, CODP, is a chronic brain disease consultant, speaker, trainer, author, and CEO of Vantage Clinical Consulting LLC. She provides strategic direction and training to healthcare organizations on opioid use disorders. She is the author of Black and Aging: During an Opioid Epidemic and was recently featured in U.S. News and World Report for her advocacy work. Hand was recognized by the Illinois House of Representatives for her work in opioid overdose reduction in Cook County, IL. She draws upon decades of family, medical, and clinical experiences including leadership roles with global addiction medication manufacturing organizations. Her mission is to create access to high quality care for patients seeking MAT worldwide.

Beginner and Intermediate
Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content. Intermediate level courses provide information that builds on knowledge practitioners with some experience already have. These courses focus on skill-building or adding knowledge, possibly following a brief overview of basic information, and involve using information in concrete situations and understanding the underlying structure of the material.

Earn 1 Continuing Education Hour (CE)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $15 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
