This webinar is sponsored by Carefrontations.

Description
Substance use developmentally peaks during emerging adulthood (ages 18-25). Many emerging adults who develop problematic substance use during this developmental period have been exposed to environmental, individual, and interpersonal stressors throughout their life that place them at risk for ongoing difficulties with substance use as they transition to adulthood. This transition into substance use interfaces with the five features of emerging adulthood. The helping professional, however, is left with the dilemma on how to proceed in addressing substance use disorders in emerging adults. This webinar will enable the participants to work more effectively when counseling emerging adults with substance use disorders.
Learning Objectives
  • Leave with a working definition and understanding of emerging adulthood in conjunction with the five features of emerging adulthood.
  • Understand five reasons substance use increases in emerging adulthood.
  • Learn seven skills in counseling emerging adults with substance use disorders.
