Description
A relational approach to addiction treatment is the missing component in most contemporary addiction models, even though this default assumption conflicts with most empirical evidence. Long-standing and well-established research has consistently supported couple and family approaches for treating addictive disorders. One approach, the Couple Recovery Development Approach (CRDA), offers specific strategies for addiction professionals to help couples develop a relationship recovery that supports individual recovery, maximizing the chances for successful recovery for individual family members, as well as the family.

Robert J. Navarra, PsyD, LMFT, MAC, is a Certified Gottman Therapist specializing in couple recovery. Based on his research of over 15 years he created “Roadmap for the Journey,” a 2-day workshop designed for couples in early & long-term addiction recovery. “Roadmap for the Journey” has been given in treatment programs and is a featured workshop at Betty Ford Hazelden’s line up of workshops in 2019 and 2020. He has authored “Systemic Addiction Treatment in Couple and Family Therapy” for the Encyclopedia of Couple and Family Therapy, as well as co-authored articles on Gottman Method Therapy and several book chapters with Dr. John Gottman. Navarra has presented nationally and internationally, and at several NAADAC conferences. Additionally, Navarra co-authored an article with William White on couple recovery.

- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
