Description
In today’s society, it is normal to enjoy social gaming. Whether for excitement, escape, or a way to test one’s skill, many find it to be an enjoyable activity to stay connected with others. For some, however, social gaming can lead to destructive patterns and behaviors ultimately resulting in disordered gambling. This workshop will identify the background and connection between social games, eSports, and internet gambling while addressing the issues and establishing principles of meaningful recovery.
Learning Objectives
  • Identify new and emerging forms of gaming and gambling.
  • Learn the issues surrounding the behavioral and psychological aspects of video gaming, social casino gaming, and internet gambling while tying it back to WHO 11 and DSM-5.
  • Demonstrate an understand of the connection between gaming and gambling and the future implications.

Daniel Trolaro, MS

Daniel Trolaro, MS, is the Assistant Executive Director for 800-GAMBLER and holds his Master of Science degree in Psychology from California Coast University. Trolaro speaks around the state and country about internet and mobile device gambling as well as emerging trends and addiction from various vantage points. Whether speaking on the underlying “dis” ease, prevention strategies, emerging trends, responsible gaming or recovery resources, Trolaro discusses the concept of addiction-switching, co-occurrence, and behaviors associated with many addictions.

Earn 1 Continuing Education Hour (CE)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $15 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Click here for instructions on how to access your CE certificates.
