Description
In a few short years electronic cigarettes have grown into a multi-billion dollar business, yet conflicting information abounds about the efficacy and safety. This presentation will show both sides of the controversy and answer the questions of whether they will help a smoker quit and are they safe.

  • Explain the pros and cons of using e-cigarettes as a cessation device vs the use of FDA approved medications.
  • Explain the health concerns of the user and those exposed to secondhand vapor.     

Presenter
VJ Sleight, MS

VJ Sleight, MS, is an author and speaker on tobacco and smoking issues. She is a former smoker who quit after receiving a cancer diagnosis. She has been helping others become smoke-free for over 20 years with her program Stop Smoking, Stay Quit. She has a Masters degree in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine and has been trained at the Mayo Clinic as a Tobacco Treatment specialist. She is a Legislative Ambassador for the American Cancer Society, Chairman of the Coalition for Tobacco Free Communities, serving Riverside County, Vice Chairman for TURN (Tobacco Use Reduction Now) Coalition for San Bernardino County, and Member of The Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD). She is also author of: How to Win at Quitting Smoking and Workbook to Stop Smoking, Stay Quit.

Earn 1.5 Continuing Education Hours (CEs)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $20 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Click here for instructions on how to access your CE certificates.
