Description
Unfortunately, many individuals with substance use disorders also have experienced one or more traumas. Treatment for these co-occurring disorders should be integrated and the use of EMDR can be helpful for some people. This free webinar will give an overview of the 8 phases of the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy protocol. A brief description of how EMDR therapy effects neurobiology of the brain will be provided and the trainer will summarize two specific protocols (DETUR and Cycle Model) for alleviating cravings and euphoric recall. A presentation of two strategies for working with clients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) will explain how to determine appropriate timing for processing trauma.

  • Identify two EMDR Therapy protocols for alleviating acute symptoms of craving and euphoric recall.

Jeanne Meyer, LMHC, LPC, MAC,has over 20 years of experience working with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health. She spent many years working in community outpatient chemical dependency agencies. She was trained in 1996 in EMDR Therapy. As Assistant Program Manager for a co-occurring outpatient treatment program, she provided many trainings for staff on a variety of topics, including Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and PTSD.

To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
