Description
This free webinar will present the five current generations in the United States to participants. In addition, it will analyze the other aspects of culture from the generational perspective. Each generation, for instance, views race, sexual identity, spirituality, family, and substance use differently. A prime example within the realm of substance use is generational differences in view on marijuana. Each of the five generations will be defined, general characteristics will be explored, and the applicability to the addiction professional will be explained.

Presenter
Ryan Paul Carruthers
Ryan Paul Carruthers is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP), and Certified Professional Counselor (CPC) in the State of Nebraska, and is certified as a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) by the Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). He holds a Master of Human Relations (MHR) from the University of Oklahoma and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Counseling Studies through Capella University. Ryan is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and also works as an adjunct professor at both Metropolitan Community College and College of Saint Mary's. Ryan provides continuing education classes to other substance abuse counselors and mental health practitioners in the State of Nebraska and has previously been a Certified QPR Suicide Prevention Trainer. He is also a Certified SMART Recovery facilitator, hosting Omaha's first SMART Recovery meeting at Abintra, and recently began serving as the SMART Recovery Regional Coordinator for the State of Nebraska. Ryan has created Abintra’s programs for the Education Courses, Outpatient Program, Intensive Outpatient Program, and Adolescent/Family Education Course. At the end of the 2007-08 school year, Ryan was awarded Millard Public School’s “Expanding Horizons” Award for “Making a difference by enhancing students learning of curriculum through practical experience in the school environment.”

- Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
