Mindfulness and Addiction Treatment
A Recorded Webinar
Recorded on Thursday, March 26, 2015

Jump to Course Contents
Description
It is most often the mind's interpretation of a stressful life event, not the event itself, that creates the urgent need to get instant relief and leads to substance use or other unwanted behaviors. Mindfulness practices provide a break from stress, teach the client to listen to his/her mind, body, and emotions, and improve the self-acceptance that leads to greater hope and self-efficacy. Join us for this free webinar to learn simple daily practices that can quiet the mind, reduce anxiety, increase self-compassion and self-acceptance, decrease negative thoughts, increase resilience, and improve self-efficacy related to stress management. This webinar also includes practice for the provider, which offers a way to manage professional stress, increase professional confidence, and improve professional performance. This experiential webinar will provide tools that are gentle but effective and easy to incorporate into a daily routine.
Learning Objectives
  • Experience the calming, soothing, and focusing effects of mindfulness practice
  • Learn specific ways to introduce, teach, and track the effectiveness of mindfulness practice with clients
  • Learn how mindfulness practice can be applied in 3 specific areas of addiction treatment
