Description
To perform as a professional in the role of recovery support specialist, you must be able to maintain high professional and ethical standards, operate with integrity, be beyond reproach, maintain impeccable personal and professional boundaries, and be responsible to and for your own peer group. This webinar will equip you with the tools you need to develop a sound understanding of ethics, boundaries, and confidentiality as it applies to the peer recovery specialist role.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to define ethics and give at least one example of an ethical infringement in each of the subcategories of: professional, personal, organizational, and legal as it would apply to the recovery specialist role.
- Participants will be able to summarize the codes of ethics for the recovery industry and the part confidentiality plays in each of the seven key principles governing a recovery specialist.
- Participants will be able to provide examples of professional ethical boundary violations, and use these as a basis to formulate a personal ethical statement that can be used in their role as a recovery specialist.

Judith Landau, MD, DPM, LMFT, CFLE, is a child, family, and community Neuropsychiatrist and former Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine. Landau has specialized in mental health, trauma, addiction, and co-occurring disorders for 40+ years, exploring how to facilitate resilience and healing for individuals, families, and communities through collaborative care.

Nanette Zumwalt, CADC, CCJP, CIP, CRS, is the President/CEO of Hired Power and has worked in the mental health field and addiction recovery for over two decades. Under Zumwalt’s care and leadership, Hired Power has taken the pioneering role in treating addiction in adolescents, young adults, and adults during the high risk and very important transition periods of long term recovery. Hired Power has established and provides professional services, with a gender specific focus, to clients and families. Zumwalt is a strong advocate for families struggling with addiction.

To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

- Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $15 processing fee to access the quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print.
