Centering Student Well-Being to Support Student Success

Centering Student Well-Being to Support Student Success

Description
The recent NACAS report on student success indicates auxiliary professionals must “reposition their value proposition to students and adapt to the preferences and insights of their populations” (NACAS, 2022). Further, the report suggests that “students want their success centered on wellness, community, and happiness and we see so many opportunities for auxiliaries to shape these experiences.” This webinar will show you how to begin that important work by understanding your institution’s climate for well-being and using data to take action.

The Student Well-being Institutional Support Survey (SWISS) is the first national survey to assess how students think their campus is supporting them along various dimensions of their well-being. SWISS is based at the Institute for Well-being at Butler University, and has been administered at nearly 30 U.S. institutions, yielding more than 20,000 student responses. SWISS gives campuses a view of their climate for well-being and directly actionable information that practitioners can use to address areas of
opportunity in supporting their students. This session will be beneficial to auxiliary professionals in all functional areas, and will discuss major findings from SWISS and how institutions have used data to improve student success outcomes on campus.
