This webinar will explore the relationship between housing and health and ways
to assess housing as a social determinant in your community. Housing stability,
quality, safety, and affordability all affect health outcomes. Poor-quality
housing is associated with various negative health outcomes, including
infectious disease and psychological distress. This webinar will discuss
specific quality affordable housing strategies that can lead to improvements in
physical and mental health. In this webinar, we will 1) relate housing and
health; 2) discuss the Healthy People 2020 Social Determinants of health
framework; 3) explore how housing and health can be incorporated into the
community health assessment process; and 4) identify national and local data
sources for an assessment of housing, drawing from Urban Institute’s National
Neighborhood Indicators Partnership.
