NACCHO has developed an online module that illustrates the value and
role of Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers within Local Health
Departments (LHDs). Designed for LHDs that do not have an MRC unit in
their jurisdiction, this module demonstrates the benefits that an MRC
Unit can add to an LHD’s ability to deliver effective services to its
community.
Learning objectives
After completing the module, local health officials should be able to:
- Describe the organizational structure of the Medical Reserve Corps
- Describe how Medical Reserve Corps volunteers fill gaps in LHD internal capacity
- Describe ways that NACCHO supports the MRC network
- Summarize the guidelines for consideration for starting and maintaining a MRC unit
