BRIEFING: International Employment in the COVID-19 Era

Loading audio, please wait...

Description

In addition to myriad pandemic-related issues that colleges and universities are tackling on campus, institutions are also wrestling with complex and tricky issues with staff overseas. Many employees and researchers may be “stuck” abroad, working remotely for the time being. Others are part of an international operation that is suspended or permanently closed. Still others are essential personnel working in public health positions across the globe. Institutions are faced with difficult decisions and a complicated array of varying laws and policies when determining whether and how to structure foreign telework or manage a reduction in force. How can we implement furloughs or terminate overseas employees and also mitigate risk? How can we ensure employee safety abroad? Please join us for a NACUA Briefing with Bill Ferreira, Partner in the International Education practice at Hogan Lovells, and Lisa Rae, Senior Vice President & General Counsel at World Learning, who will walk through these and other major issues to consider in this time of great uncertainty.

This 30-minute briefing will be audio-only and will be complimentary to NACUA members.
