This will be the summation of all the previous investment sessions. Applying the academic theory to real-life scenarios and practice. We will look at examples and case studies that help attendees understand what they have learned. Approximately 30 minutes of the session will address attendees' questions and discussion on their areas of concern.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate investment taxation knowledge through practical application, case studies, and examples
  • Understand and apply best practices for determining basis
  • Discuss record keeping, especially when basis is not provided (or correct) on the 1099-B
  • Demonstrate the forms in practical applications

    Ben Tallman is an NTPI Fellow with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Ben has taught for many years at local, state, and national organizations. He has served on the NAEA Education Foundation and is a prior GAEA education director. Ben is a regular on Tax Talk Today and has conducted numerous webinars and podcasts over the years. He is a US Tax Court practitioner and writes articles of interest for the NAEA & NATP Journals. Ben operates a tax practice and representation business in Atlanta.
