Course Description
Many clients think of themselves as “Day Traders,” but do they meet the IRS definition? An examination of Tax Trader Status and the Mark-to-Market election for high volume traders. We’ll also explore some tax court decisions in this area in order to best prepare your clients for an IRS challenge.

  • Analyze trader rulings made by the courts.
  • Interpret the reasoning behind decisions made in those cases.

Office In The Home
Course Description

The number of taxpayers working from how has been increasing in recent years, especially in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic. An investigation into Office in the Home rules, with an emphasis on self-employed taxpayers. We will also cover home offices for entities, along with accountable plans, and taxpayers in the trade or business of real estate rentals.

  • Evaluate individual taxpayer scenarios to apply home office rules.
  • Analyze historical court rulings to inform decision making.
  • Assess entity criteria for applicability for an accountable plan.
