This session is the capstone and culmination of the certificate bringing together concepts identified through the earlier sessions. A mastery of the covered information will provide you the foundation to effectively address most rental real estate situations. This session will cover the full life cycle from acquisition to disposition including many of the covered issues.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the previously covered tax law relating to rental real estate.
  • Identify risks, potential misapplication of the Code in prior returns, and whether amended returns are warranted.
  • Identify potential tax saving strategies.
  • Identify contemporaneous documentation advisable for the taxpayer to maintain.

    Jane Ryder, EA, CPA, has been providing tax preparation, accounting services, and tax collection resolution services since 1980. She runs her San Diego CPA firm, Brass Tax Ryder Professional Group, Inc., and writes and speaks on many income taxes, business compliance, and accounting topics. She received a BS in Business Administration (Accounting) from SDSU and is currently licensed with the California State Board of Accountancy and with the Internal Revenue Service as an enrolled agent.

    Jane has a business-centric practice, preparing and consulting on tax, accounting, and compliance matters for Corporations, S-corporations, LLC's, Partnerships, and Trusts. She also specializes in IRS and state agencies collection problems, payment plans, audit representation, audit appeals, offers in compromise, and other compliance related issues.

  • Allan (AJ) Reynolds, EA

    A.J. has immense experience in various areas of taxation, which encompasses over 30 years. His practice centers on individual, business, and estate tax preparation. In addition, A.J. specializes in IRS audits, appeals, collections and other tax representations. He speaks for multiple organizations and brings his everyday “in the trenches” experience to assist attendees with real issues affecting tax professionals. A.J. started his tax career with a national CPA firm in San Diego, CA after proudly serving five years in the U.S. Navy.
