Total Time: 1.5 hours

Conference Year: 2019

Course Description
Gain knowledge, tools and resources for assisting clients in deaccessioning items. When does it make sense to sell, donate or keep? We will look at market trends that effect value and the resources for selling client’s items including art appraisers and auction houses. We'll highlight some online options that clients or organizers can use to consign. Attendees will become well versed in discussing options with clients, and assisting them through the process of sorting through the contents of the home. They may even opt to add this to their list of services or act as the client's advisor.

Learning Objectives
Participants will learn:
-From real-life case studies from both the organizer’s and appraiser’s point of view
-To identify current trends in the market and identify objects of value
-To distinguish between different valuations and apply appropriate values to objects
-When and how to donate items vs. consign/sell them
-What information is crucial to provide for consignment or appraisal
