01.10.2012 | Rehabilitation of Timber Structures

This course examines bowstring trusses and glued-laminated beams, two types of timber structural members that often require rehabilitation. Changes in allowable stresses, increases in loading requirements, newer methods of structural analysis, and damage and decay all require these members to be rehabilitated for continued performance and safety. Several methods of rehabilitating these members and increasing their capacity will be reviewed. Finally two case studies will be presented that demonstrate these repair methods.
