The interface between the exterior wall and the perimeter edge of slab or deck in steel-framed buildings offers design and detailing challenges for architects and structural engineers, as well as construction challenges for contractors, sub-contractors, and wall suppliers. This presentation addresses scope for design and construction as well as tolerance considerations for a variety of exterior wall systems including metal stud systems supporting masonry, precast concrete cladding, curtainwall and storefront systems. The outcome is an enhanced understanding of design, coordination, and construction issues that affect the economy and constructability of various exterior wall interface conditions. |
