In 2011, the anchorage design chapter of ACI 318 was revised to include adhesively bonded anchors. Including adhesive anchors greatly expands the designer’s toolbox for the structural engineer. Only polymeric adhesives are currently permitted in the ACI 318 Code. Cementitious grouted anchors are not currently included but anticipated in future code revisions. Special attention will be paid to the time-dependent properties of adhesive anchors and how the Code currently addresses the issue. Additional discussion will review the Adhesive Anchor Installer Certification program offered through the ACI Certification. Briefly discuss inspection programs and field testing for acceptance. |
