In the late 1990s, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) established the ACI 440 Committee to develop relevant design standards for fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP). This Committee has published over 10 documents specifically aimed at the design and installation of FRP systems, including the widely used ACI 440.2R-08. Concurrently, the International Code Council developed Acceptance Criteria 125. Even though the AC 125 includes minimum composite properties and full-scale structural testing requirements, it is not used as a design standard, despite the fact that design equations are included within the document. In a general comparison between ACI 440 and AC 125, there are many similarities but also some major differences. The focus of this webinar is to highlight the existing omissions and potential pitfalls that exist in the available design guidelines while also providing guidance in these areas of concern based on available large-scale structural testing from various universities.
