12.06.2016 | Fire Resistance Design for Wood Construction-a Primer for Structural Engineers

Determining proper code applications for designing for fire-resistance in wood-frame construction can be challenging. This presentation is a primer for Structural Engineers and will include code requirements, compliance options, and nuances related to fire-resistance rated assemblies. Also, American Wood Council’s National Design Specification® (NDS®) for Wood Construction Chapter 16 Fire Design of Wood Members will be discussed with design examples for calculating fire-resistance for exposed wood members as well as the component additive method for assemblies and flame-spread performance of wood products.

  • Course will award 1.5 hours of continuing education
  • This course is Diamond Review approved in 49 states. New York does not accept hours from recordings.
