The Excavation Shoring Design Guide: Temporary and Permanent Earth Retention Design/ Construction Aspects

This webinar series will address the design and construction aspects of temporary and permanent earth retention systems. Attendees will review the different elements of each earth retention system and when each method is appropriate. Besides sizing the shoring system’s principal members, the series will provide basic construction details necessary to round out complete designs.

November 11 - The Design Approach for Unrestrained and Restrained Earth Retention System
This virtual webinar will use a collaborative and interactive learning approach to help you understand the basic design and construction aspects of conventional cantilever and restrained earth retention systems. The webinar will discuss how to determine the appropriate earth pressure, surcharge, and passive resistance loads. The webinar will outline general principles and guidelines for the different wall types while providing construction details to round out the complete design process.

November 18 - The Design Approach for Deep Soil Mix (DSM) and Soil Nail Walls
This virtual webinar will use a collaborative and interactive learning approach to help you understand the basic design and construction aspects of DSM earth retention systems and soil nail walls. The webinar will cover site characterization for DSM, DSM arching effect, and the design approaches based on the ASD/ LRFD platform that is the basis used for the design of temporary and permanent soil nail walls.
