A case study of the adaptive reuse of the historic Witherspoon Building located in Center City Philadelphia. The material is based on a series of articles published in the STRUCTURE Magazine in the fall of 2021 and April of 2022; however, this presentation includes considerably more information about the structural investigations, designs and details associated with the same project.

    Mr. Stuart is a Senior Structural Engineer at Pennoni Associates Inc. in Philadelphia, PA. and Adjunct Professor at the School of Engineering, Widener University in Chester, PA. with 45-years of experience. Prior to joining Pennoni, he served as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, Structural Department Head and Engineer of Record on a wide variety of commercial, institutional, manufacturing, process and industrial facilities throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and South America. He has been responsible for the design, coordination, administration and management of the structural engineering for a diverse spectrum of projects, the renovation and preservation of a variety of different types of buildings and structures, and the strengthening and restoration of a wide range of deficient and deteriorated buildings and structures.
