Beginning in 2015, the International Building Code started requiring storm shelters for educational buildings. While newly required in education projects, storm protection is an increasing topic of all project types. We will discuss the current IBC and ICC code provisions, how it can apply to locating the shelter in a project and material selection to design a storm shelter.
