This is a recorded session of NEI’s Backfitting 101: A General Awareness Training and reviews the NRC’s backfitting and issue finality rules, as well as the agency’s forward-fitting policy.

The recording contains the four-hour course that includes:

• an overview of the history of the NRC’s backfitting requirements
• guidance on identification of backfitting, forward-fitting and issue finality concerns
• discussion of challenging agency backfitting decisions, with a focus on inspection and enforcement
• ample backfitting examples and opportunity to exercise backfitting concepts
• a review of recent and pending NRC regulatory guidance changes.

Graduates of the course will be equipped to identify backfitting, understand the exceptions to the rule and the best methods of engaging with the NRC.

A certificate of training completion will be awarded to all attendees that successfully pass a final examination.

This training is for new and long-term nuclear energy industry employees interested in backfitting and forward-fitting regulations, including:

• engineers
• lawyers
• other regulatory-related departments.
