Target Audience New graduate women’s health nurse practitioners (WHNPs), and other nurse practitioners involved in women’s and gender related healthcare.

Approval CE Approval Period: April 4, 2022, through April 4, 2025
Post-tests must be completed during the approval period with a passing score of 70% or higher to earn CE. No refunds will be issued if the activity is not completed within the approval period.

Objectives
  1. Review normal fetal-placental development
  2. Identify normal maternal physiological, anatomical, emotional, and behavioral changes in pregnancy.
  3. Discuss assessment, differential diagnoses, and management of the common discomforts of pregnancy that result from these anatomic and physiologic changes. 

Content Outline
  1. Fetal placental development.
  2. Pathophysiology and common discomforts of pregnancy: round ligament pain, leukorrhea, breast changes, common skin changes, gallstones, ptyalism gravidarum, bleeding gums, nausea and vomiting, constipation, heartburn, back ache, leg cramps, urinary changes, edema, hemorrhoids, dyspnea, hematologic changes/DVT risk, thyroid changes, fatigue
