The Accessible Healthcare Workshop: Real-World Lessons from Health Systems Nationwide

Live Webinar
October 1-2, 2026

Course Description
People with disabilities make up more than a quarter of U.S. adults — over 70 million people — and experience significant gaps in the quality and safety of the care they receive. Healthcare organizations are increasingly committed to closing those gaps, but knowing where to start and how to move from policy to daily practice remains a challenge. Most teams engaged in this work have few models to learn from and little sense of how other organizations are approaching the same problems.

This two-day virtual workshop puts those examples front and center. Speakers from a wide variety of health systems will share how they are putting disability access into practice, including what they've built, what they've learned, and the challenges they continue to face. They'll offer concrete illustrations across topics such as building a disability accessibility program, operationalizing accommodations policies, implementing effective communication practices, and more.

The workshop is designed for teams working to implement accessible care, including: ADA, Section 504, and Section 1557 coordinators; interpreting services managers; health equity and quality improvement officers; and anyone whose role supports patients with disabilities in accessing care. Sessions are presented in lecture and panel formats with Q&A throughout. The content applies to organizations of every size, from small rural clinics to large health systems. For teams looking for step-by-step implementation guidance, Disability Equity Collaborative's Implementation Guide offers a complementary roadmap.
