Course Description
The New Metro: Sports Medicine Board Review Course 2024 succinctly reviews high-yield board exam topics for the 2024 Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM). This virtual, live 3-day review course consists of a total of 18 hours of lecture content and uniquely collaborates with the brightest sports medicine experts across multiple institutions in the New York City metropolitan area. Current primary care and PM&R sports medicine fellows as well as physicians planning to recertify for the 2024 CAQSM are invited to attend from Friday, June 7, 2024 through Sunday, June 9, 2024. Other interested attendees are welcome to register. The content will remain available for its participants after the course's live recording.

Target Audience
The target audience includes Medical Doctors (MD, DO), Primary Care and PM&R Sports Medicine Fellows as well as recertifying Sports Medicine Physicians that will be taking the 2024 CAQSM Board Examination.

Educational Objectives
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

  • Describe the history-taking, examination, diagnostic work-up, treatment options, and return to sport or activity guidelines for sport related conditions and injuries.
  • Describe the acute treatment and management of medical emergencies such as abdominal/pelvic/groin trauma, anaphylaxis, acute spinal cord injuries, environmental illness, exercise-associated collapse, and facial/head trauma.
  • Describe the mechanism of action of therapeutic drugs and their indications for use as well as how performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse impact the athlete and sport.
  • Describe the ethical, medico-legal, and administrative responsibilities of a team physician.
  • Describe sport-specific joint kinematics, biomechanics, physiology, and risk factors for injury.

In order to request a refund you must email Krystal.Pearce@nyulangone.org no later than 14 days prior to the first day of the course. An administrative fee of $75 will be deducted from your refund. Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund. Registration is non-transferable.

Course Cancellation Policy
If a live course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, or any other reason, Rusk Rehabilitation will refund registration fees in full. Rusk Rehabilitation will provide at least two weeks’ advance notice if cancelling due to insufficient enrollment and as soon as possible in all other circumstances. Rusk Rehabilitation is not responsible for any non-cancellable costs incurred by the registrant.

In the unlikely event that a recorded course is cancelled/not available for the 1 year time period as advertised, the registration fee will be refunded in full.
