In this course, we will explore recent trends in suicides nationally, locally, and discuss trends in marginalized populations. We will explore models of assessment, screening, and intervention that embody a collaborative approach to managing suicidality. We will review strategies for building relationships with care providers locally to improve the care for those seeking treatment for chronic suicidality.
The objectives for this course include:
1. Explore the current standard of care for collaborative assessment and intervention of suicidality.
2. Explore and enhance their skills around safety planning including effective documentation and consultation
3. Explore the importance of utilizing case management and ongoing relationships with the network of care providers who intervene and treat suicidality

Jeff Jones, LPC, LADC
Jeffrey Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Edmond, Oklahoma. Jeffrey is a graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma both for his Bachelor’s in 2007 and his Master’s in 2010. Jeffrey has experience working in community mental health settings where he worked specifically with a diverse population suffering from severe mental health, trauma, and addiction. Jeffrey has participated in and presented on several professional trainings on evidence-based models proven effective for addiction treatment, including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. Jeffrey is also a trained SMART Recovery facilitator and hosts a weekly meeting at the University of Central Oklahoma where he works with both students and community members. Jeffrey is a full-time counselor at the Center for Counseling and Well Being at the University of Central Oklahoma.
