Recorded Webinar- Treating Chronic Pain via Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Treating Chronic Pain via Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for chronic pain (CBT-CP) is a widely researched, time-limited approach that has been shown to improve functioning and quality of life for a variety of chronic pain conditions. CBT-CP is rooted in the development of a strong therapeutic relationship that encourages clients to adopt an active, problem-solving approach to cope with the challenges associated with chronic pain. Key components include exercise, pacing, relaxation training, cognitive restructuring, and behavioral activation. CBT-CP can be either delivered alone or as a component of an integrated, multimodal, and interdisciplinary pain management program.

The objectives for this course include:
1. Gain a knowledge base regarding chronic pain, including how it differs from acute pain, typical areas affected, and medical treatment options.
2. Understand how cognitions, emotions, and behaviors can impact development and maintenance of pain and functional impairment.
3. Learn how to implement key CBT components to improve functioning and quality of life for those suffering from chronic pain.
Courses expire 30 days after purchase.
