Dr. Tracy Loper will share his extensive
experience treating mature adult patients with
mental illness. He will discuss challenges
with medications, compliance, and relapse, as well as existing community services to
improve quality of life and encourage
independence.
Dr. Loper will share information about Autumn Life Center, the inpatient psychiatric unit for older adults and THRIVE, the intensive outpatient program for older adults at OU Health Edmond Medical Center. Dr. Loper will discuss the different ways mental health disorders in older adults present and the problems and challenges with delirium versus dementia. He will also discuss the challenges of polypharmacy and what to do, as well as resources in the community.
