PHP Online Training
Enduring Material August 2026 - December 2028 (1.5 credit hours)
Course Description
The PHP Online Training exists to demystify the function of the Pennsylvania Physicians’ Health Program (PHP) and clarify the signs of impairment unique to medical professionals. This asynchronous training includes 8 educational modules, each comprised of a brief informational video that is immediately followed by a corresponding scenario in which the learner can test their knowledge. These modules pair expertise from physicians and other health care professionals in recovery with advice from industry experts to inform the learner on best practices in the workplace.
This course addresses an underlying need in the health care profession—despite the presence of PHPs, these programs are severely underutilized due to lack of awareness and fear of licensure retribution. To address this gap, these modules provide education on the “safe haven” laws for health care professionals, the interplay of the Pennsylvania PHP and the licensing board, referral pathways to the PHP, and how to differentiate between symptoms of illness and impairment.
