A recent study determined that sleep-disordered breathing in children may be as high as 30%. Orthodontists are in a unique position within the healthcare community with far more visits with the pediatric population than other healthcare providers. The potential to improve obstructive sleep apnea in concert with other professionals is well within accepted and standard treatment protocols orthodontists routinely perform daily. In this evidence-based presentation, Dr. Graham will discuss how the orthodontic team may accurately screen for obstructive sleep apnea and give specific examples of how he communicates with ENTs, pediatricians, and sleep-medicine specialists. Dr. Graham will also share the protocol he uses from the first visit to the last when treating young patients with obstructive sleep apnea.
