Description
On the basis of more than 30-year clinical experience of open bite treatment, various cases using TADs and clinical tips for open bite treatment will be shared. TADs have been used in several ways. Among them the mid-palatal screw and intrusion TPA was the choice of treatment. Some of the cases were treated after extraction of second molars. It facilitated the speed of closing the bite. Many of Class II open bite patients accompany TMD problems. Some of them have unstable condylar position, which makes it very difficult to obtain a good occlusion and incisal contact. Post-retention stability is one of the important issues. Guide lines will be provided. Lecture will include the step-by-step procedure to treat open bite and a short video ‘how to place a mid-palatal TAD.

Tae-Woo KIM, DDS, MSD, PhD
Tae-Woo KIM is Professor in Orthodontics, Seoul National University, where he completed his orthodontic specialty training in 1986. He was a visiting professor(1995-7) of University of Washington. He was an editor-in-chief of Korean Journal of Orthodontics(KJO) for many years. He was President of Korean Association of Orthodontists(KAO) and KAO Foundation(2014.4~ 2016.3). He works as a reviewer of KJO, AJODO and other famous international journals. His focused research fields are TMD, open bite, mini-implants and long-term stability. He was invited as a keynote speaker by more than thirty countries.
