In response to the SAA's larger theme of the future of archives within a time of remarkable change, this meeting will focus on the future of Design Archives. In additions to speakers, we will also reflect on the sections last year, and review opportunities in the new year. This meeting is open to anyone interested in Design records.

The Future is Change: A Reflection on the Digital Landscape at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Within the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Infrastructure Division, the last few years have brought new perspectives, new expectations, and new challenges related to how we create, manage, and access our building and construction records. The division’s two archivists and records analysts will reflect on these changes and how they will continue to shape the transition away from paper-heavily practices.
- Anna Reznik is an archivist and records analyst with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Infrastructure Division, Anna M. Reznik provides records management guidance for division staff and oversees the overall management of information systems and records in paper and electronic form.
- Lori Miculka is a records analyst with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Infrastructure Division, Lori Miculka provides records management support to division staff and assists with the management and access of TPWD facility architectural records.
Making a case for “pre-custodial intervention”. Organizing and processing a collection of over 3,500 hundred tubes of architectural drawings and 1,000 file boxes of documents for Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates, a Pritzker Prize winning architect who was in practice for over 60 years. It was a daunting task to say the very least.
- Linda Scinto worked as an interior designer at the office of Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates from 1997 – 2019 as well as being Mr. Roche’s executive assistant for eight years. In 2007 she began archiving his papers and drawings for transfer to Yale University’s Manuscripts and Archives Library which will be completed by the end of this year. She has lectured in Textiles in the Interior Design Department at Paier College since 2013.
In the early 2000s Manuscripts and Archives (MSSA), a special collections department within Yale University Library, established agreements with five active firms to receive and accession material for as long as the firm was operable. Following Linda Scinto’s talk, I will discuss how those records are managed once they come to MSSA, and what changes we’ve had to make along the way.
- Jessica Quagliaroli is the Architecture Records Archivist for the Arts Library Special Collections at Yale University. She is responsible for the arrangement and description of architectural archival collections, outreach, and special collections instruction for Yale School of Architecture faculty and students, and research and reference services for faculty, students, and researchers outside of the Yale community. She previously worked as an archives technician and archivist at the Architect of the Capitol.
