As an archivist involved in processing a variety of collections, from personal papers to institutional records, you regularly add information about possible restrictions on use and reproduction notes to finding aids and identify items that should be restricted from access by researchers. However, as our collections and access evolve over time, with more online access and born-digital materials, another look is required for our finding aid boilerplate, policies, and procedures. This webcast will help you to identify possible legal issues in a variety of collections, and develop policies and procedures for addressing them.

Individuals involved in processing archival collections, especially for archivists and others who are or will be involved in setting policy or developing workflows for arrangement and description.
What You Should Already Know:
Familiarity with the basics of arrangement and description as well as acquisition and access. This webinar will not provide extensive detail on all legal issues involved in arrangement and description. Ideally, a participant should have some familiarity with copyright and confidentiality issues or be prepared to consult additional resources.

2. Description: Analyze and describe details about the attributes of a record or collection of records to facilitate identification, management, and understanding of the work.
6. Ethics: Convey transparency of actions taken during arrangement and description and respect privacy, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity of archival materials.
7. Risk Management: Analyze threats and implement measures to minimize ethical and institutional risks.
