Overview

This four-week asynchronous course combines self-study and instructor-led lessons. Participants complete one module per week, moving through the course as a group, including contribution to asynchronous discussions. Projects have deadlines according to a predetermined schedule. An orientation will be held via webcast in advance to discuss technology needs and course expectations.

What You'll Learn

The course will deepen your knowledge of project management concepts and tools, and put this knowledge into practice during course exercises. You are encouraged to use a work-related clinical project or trial for course assignments that can have immediate application to your job. Key topics include The Triple Constraints, the PM Life Cycle and the Nine Knowledge Areas. The course also includes how to successfully manage projects with remote and virtual teams.

Who Should Attend

Project managers, program managers, and project team leaders who have some experience initiating, planning and managing projects, and project team/clinical team members who are interested in enhancing their career by learning more about Project Management concepts and tools.
Participants will need a computer with access to the Internet and the ability to print out course handouts. You will need an application to read PDFs. There are no course pre-requisites. Recommended time commitment is 9 hours per week to complete each module.

Meet the Instructor

Denise Redkar-Brown
is the Principal at Sunburst Clinical Solutions dedicated to consultation in the area of Clinical Data Management training and auditing capabilities. Her last assignment in the corporate area was as Director of Scientific Affairs, Data Management at Cetero Research in Fargo, North Dakota. She is also a frequent contributor to the GCDMP and chairs SCDM's sub-taskforce on Electronic Learning. Denise began her career as a Medical Technologist working in a hospital laboratory environment. She made the transition to the pharmaceutical industry, and after more than 20 years, she has held positions in basic and clinical research. She is published in the European Journal of Pharmacology for her work in Pharmacology while at AstraZeneca and contributed to the successful submission for AccolateĀ®, the first leukotriene antagonist for asthma therapy as well as other drugs and vaccines. Her latest publication was in the Good Clinical Practices journal (GCPj) in 2008 describing the evolving role of Clinical Data Managers.

Refund Policy
: Participants will receive a full refund if notice is provided in writing via post or email one week prior to the course start date. If cancellation occurs by the end of week one of the course, students will be allowed to apply 50% of the course fee to the next offering of the same course. No refunds will be offered after that time.
