SFIA-111: Fire-rated cold-formed steel assembly listings

SFIA-111: Fire-rated cold-formed steel assembly listings
AIA Course
Recorded on December 6, 2022

Course Description
This course will delve into the science of fire resistive testing. It will describe the various types of testing required by code to determine code compliance of both assemblies and building products. The program will then analyze fire resistive testing of assemblies coupled with how to select the appropriate tested assembly. There will be a discussion on the differences referenced in the International Building Code between fire walls, fire partitions, and fire barriers looking at the concept of continuity as it relates to cold-formed steel framing. The program will conclude with interpreting the nuances in a specific UL and other fire resistive design.
Learning objectives
  1. Illustrate the various types of fire tests required for both products and systems.
  2. Intimate the process of selection for determining the appropriate cold-formed steel assembly.
  3. Integrate cold-formed steel framing into fire resistive assemblies.
  4. Interpret the concept of continuity and code compliance in fire resistive design.
  5. Interpolate the intricacies of a listed UL design.
