Premium Webinar Series: Storage Protection - Modern Storage Considerations

Presented live February 19 - March 12, 2021

In 1874, the owner of a piano manufacturer in Connecticut, US created the “automatic fire extinguisher”, or fire sprinkler, in order to protect the manufacturing and storage of pianos. Today, storage arrangements are vastly different from this original problem. Warehouses have steadily increased their maximum storage heights to optimize square footage. Modern materials and products include higher percentage of plastics which increase both heat release rates and total energy density within these products. Fully-autonomous warehouses now remove the human factor but introduce new challenges where automatic storage retrieval systems are introduced. All of these and more significantly impact the design and upkeep of ever changing storage occupancies.

Join us for this premium webinar series where three esteemed individuals will discuss modern approaches to protecting storage arrangements. Our first speaker will discuss the hazard classification and ITM aspects to storage occupancies today. Our second speaker will discuss the history of technology for storage protection and update us on recent advances and solutions. Our final speaker will address trends in automatic storage retrieval systems. Lastly, we will wrap up the series by bringing all speakers to the table for a Power Hour, or panel discussion, moderated by our 2021 SFPE President, Jack Poole of Poole Fire Protection, Inc.
