  • Stephen Dale

    A Director of Technical Services for the Loss Control Department at The Cincinnati Insurance Company, Stephen leads a unit of subject matter experts in fire protection, employee safety, construction risk management, product safety and transportation safety. A fire protection engineer and property loss control specialist, Stephen serves as a principal on four NFPA committees; is a member of SFPE’s CPD committee; leads the SFPE PE Exam Review course; and is Vice President of the Tri-State SFPE chapter. Prior to joining Cincinnati Insurance, Stephen worked as an HPR Engineer at Zurich Insurance and in various loss control and technical specialist roles at Liberty Mutual Group. Stephen has a bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University, has completed a Certificate in Technical Leadership from the University of Wisconsin, is a licensed professional engineer (PE) and holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designations.

  • Merton Bunker

    36 years of engineering experience, including seven years at the National Fire Protection Association as staff liaison to the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72). Merton is active in codes and standards development and is the Chair of the Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property Correlating Committee (NFPA 72). Merton previously served on the National Electrical Code Correlating Committee, the Technical Committee on Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, Technical Committee on Air Conditioning Systems, chaired the NFPA Technical Committee on Protected Premises Signaling Systems, and chaired the Technical Committee on Electrical Systems Maintenance (NFPA 73). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management. Merton is a licensed professional engineer, is a certified fire and explosion investigator, and a certified master electrical inspector. Merton is the president of Merton Bunker & Associates in Stafford, Virginia.

  • Christina Francis, PE

    Christina F. Francis, PE, FSFPE currently serves as Senior Staff Regulatory Specialist for Tesla, Inc. Her previous roles include Global Fire Protection Engineer for The Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G), loss control associate with Industrial Risk Insurers and design engineer with Bechtel. With almost 30 years in the fire protection industry her experience includes design, construction management, loss prevention, risk management and code consulting on a variety of industrial projects throughout the world. Ms. Francis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, is a registered professional engineer in Fire Protection and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS). She is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Industrial Fire Protection Section (past chair) and previous Board Member of Fire Protection Research Foundation.

  • Mark Aaby

    Mr. Aaby has a B.S. and a Professional Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Project Management, from the University of Maryland. He is a Senior Associate with WSP, has more than 25 years of professional experience, and is a registered Fire Protection Engineer in CO, CT, DC, DE, GA, MD, NC, and SC.His primary area of focus is fire protection system design, testing, and analysis.Mr. Aaby is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as well as the National and Charlotte Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.He currently serves on the NFPA 101 Technical Committee on Educational and Day-Care Occupancies and the NFPA 101 Technical Committee on Mercantile and Business Occupancies, and is a former member on the NFPA 72 Technical Committee on Fundamentals of Fire Alarm and Signaling Systems, NFPA 75 Technical Committee on Electronic Computer Systems, and the NFPA 13 Technical Committee on Sprinkler Systems Discharge Criteria.
