    Aaron Jones has been involved in the fire protection industry for over 35 years as a contractor, loss prevention consultant, trainer, and code official. His experience covers system design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, training, plan review, and code enforcement. He is the author of the Jones and Bartlett published textbooks Fire Protection Systems, co-author of Principles of Fire Prevention, and co-author of the soon to be published 5th edition of Fire Prevention Inspection and Code Enforcement. In addition, he co-authored Chapter 6 of the Jones and Bartlett publication Fire Investigator Principles and Practice to NFPA 921 and 1033 4th edition and has edited and peer reviewed a number of other publications. He holds degrees a BS in Fire Science from the University of Maryland, and ASS degrees in Fire Investigation, Fire Protection Systems Technology, Electronic Technology, and Broadcast Engineering from Northern Virginia Community College where he was also an adjunct instructor in the Fire Programs curriculum. As an adjunct instructor with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, he developed content and trained many inspectors through the NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector certification program. After 22 years, he retired in 2021 from the Alexandria (VA) Fire Department and currently works as a Training Specialist III with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in Fairfax, Virginia.
