Reflecting on COVID-19 Disparities
This
talk features the SGIM 2021 Distinguished Professor of Health Equity,
Dr.
Alicia Fernandez
, reflecting on lessons learned during the past year of the
COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Fernandez uses SF Bay Area and California data to
illustrate the impact of COVID-19 on Latinx and other minority patients and
discusses the success and pitfalls of health system strategies to address
inequities in COVID-19 testing and vaccination. Ending with an appeal to
academic physicians to 'be bold,' she highlights the personal impact of a
transformative year on her approach to her academic work.
